Mrs. Geeta Kapur

Mrs. Geeta Kapur has assumed the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN Limited 1st February 2024. She has been serving as Director (Personnel) of SJVN since 18th October 2018.

Furthermore, she holds the position of Director on the Board of Directors at SJVN Thermal Private Limited, SJVN Green Energy Limited, SJVN Arun-III Power Development Company, and SJVN Lower Arun Power Development Company in Nepal. Additionally, she serves as the Chairperson of the SJVN CSR Foundation, a registered trust.

With a Postgraduate degree in Management from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, Mrs. Kapur began her career in 1986, breaking barriers as the first woman officer in the HR Team at Punjab Wireless Systems (PUNWIRE), a Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) owned concern in Mohali, Punjab.

A distinguished professional with over three decades of experience in core Human Resource (HR) functions, Mrs. Kapur has been an integral part of SJVN since 1992 where she achieved the distinction of being the first woman Chairman & Managing Director and the first Functional Director of SJVN.

During her tenure at SJVN, she played a key role in various aspects of HR management and also looked after Civil Construction and Civil Contracts. Notably, she played a pivotal role in formulating HR policies, defining standard operating procedures, and successfully negotiating Wage Settlements with Unions since the company's inception.

Innovating in response to evolving HR practices, Mrs. Kapur introduced the Balanced Score Card (BSC) as a strategic performance management framework for Performance Related Pay and the SJVN Gyan Jyoti platform to enhance learning & development initiatives.

Under her guidance, SJVN achieved the Great Place to Work Certification™ in January 2024 and earned a prestigious four-star Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) for its Corporate Headquarters Building, Shakti Sadan.

Serving as the chairperson of the sub-committee constituted by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ms. Kapur played a pivotal role in spearheading the formulation of Manpower Norms for Hydro Power Projects which marked the first-ever establishment of such norms within the hydro sector has been attempted.

Her contributions have been recognized externally, with Mrs. Kapur receiving the prestigious Women Super Achiever Award during the World HRD Congress by ET Now on Feb 16, 2019 and the CIDC Chairman's Commendation Trophy in the Individual category in April 2022.
