On the 26.12.2022, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, the Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN along with Sh. Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance), SJVN visited Power house site of the Arun-3 HEP and inaugurated commencement of GIS Raft concreting, Transformer Hall Service Bay concreting and welding of DT Liner of Unit-1. He also reviewed the progress of the project and held meetings with the contractors to ensure that the project is completed on schedule, without any time or cost overruns. He also reviewed the Dam site of Arun-3 regarding progress of dam concreting and directed to complete the same by October 2023 in order to achieve the project commissioning target of December 2023. He also urged all SJVN/ SAPDC employees and representatives of contractors to follow safety protocols and COVID-19 appropriate behaviors.
On 27.12.2022, Sh. Sharma flew over the Arun valley & reviewed the Upper Arun and Arun-4 projects and then landed at Adit-2 site of Arun-3 HEP. He asked the contractors to strive to complete the scope of work in scheduled time and directed the contractors to resolve all payment related issues to allow uninterrupted construction activities in Adit-2 and Adit-3 HRT. Sh. Sharma also chaired meetings with various contractor to review the progress of Arun-3 HEP and to discuss future course of action for early completion of the Project.
On 28.12.2022, Sh. Sharma met with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal, Sh. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, in Kathmandu. Sh. Nand Lal Sharma discussed the progress of the Arun Valley Projects and the associated transmission system being implemented by SJVN in Nepal, and praised the government of Nepal for their support. He emphasized the benefits of the One Basin One Developer approach for the speedy and economically viable execution of the projects, and requested the Prime Minister to consider SJVN for the development of more hydro projects in Nepal. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects and assured his full support for the optimum development of the hydro power potential of Nepal.
Sh. Sharma also met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Nepal, Sh. Bishnu Prasad Paudel and briefed about the acceleration measures taken by SJVN to mitigate the impact of the global pandemic on the construction activities of Arun-3 Project. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the progress of projects and assured all support from the Government of Nepal for the expeditious execution of the projects. Sh. Sharma also met Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Sh. Naveen Srivastava, and thanked him for his morale-boosting visit to Arun-3 and Lower Arun Hydro Projects in November 2022. He also met with the Chief Secretary of Nepal, Sh. Shanker Das Bairagi, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board of Nepal, Sh. Sushil Bhatta, and discussed the allocation of more hydro projects in Nepal to SJVN.
